    #6451.  Harvard University Class Album, 1872  Heavy bound photographic album, 12x14x4 inches; includes five photographs of campus and groups; individual photos of each graduating member and faculty member; approx. 150 photographs total. Generally EX condition; most identified. Class albums such as this are becoming extremely difficult to find. Spine a little weak; generally scarce.  $450.00

    #15425.  Tercentenary Exposition of Governmental Activities (Mass.), 1930  Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston, 1930. Incredible bound album of nearly 170 8x10" photographs by P.E. Genereux of East Lynn, showing the exhibition booths at the Boston Armory. Every conceivable aspect of government is shown, from education to correction to health to history. Valuable historical record; album spine split, few photos ragged on edges from coming loose. Easily redone. $375.00

    #2232.  Steinway Piano Promotional Photographs  Series of 28 7x9" images, each printed on 10x12" embossed paper, c. 1920-1930. Each shows a different Steinway piano, with specifications on reverse; each pictured in a home or music room setting. Apparently a salesman's set of samples. Overall superb; a few images with light spots, either age or darkroom; a fine historical record, very nearly unique. $700.00

    Daguerreian Cases

    #9566.  Whole Plate Mother of Pearl Daguerreian Case  This extremely rare case does not contain an image, but does have a whole plate oval mat, glass, and most of the preserver. The case itself has a scenic motif on the front, including a castle-style building, fence, trees and floral designs. The spine is labeled "Friendships Offering." Two interior "edges" of the case are missing, and some of the applied coloring on the cover has worn off. Still, repairable and quite rare.  $1100.00

    #30867.  Paget Color Photography Viewing Screen, 3-1/4x4-1/4"  The Paget color process involved a taking screen, used when exposing the negative; special processing; and then a viewing screen when looking at the final transparency. Use of the taking and viewing screens produced the color image. Here is a package of TWO viewing screens, unused, originally wrapped, in worn original Paget box. No instruction sheet. Quite scarce. $170.00

    19th Century Travel Photographs

    The travel photographs listed below are all c. 1870-1880; they are among the finest examples of albumen photographs we have had the pleasure of owning. Each print (or prints) is originally mounted on an 18x22" heavy gray board, with a hand-penned calligraphy title at the bottom. Many of these images are historically important, and while unidentified by photographer, were all apparently acquired by a single owner. Many have a similarity of style that requires further study.

    #32595.   Parsee and Burmese Ambassadors  Two crisp images, each 4x5-1/2", with superb detail. Original warm-tone albumen prints, c. 1870's, with calligraphic titles. Photographer unknown. Couple of spots on face of mount; backside of mount soiled. Still eminently displayable and superb images.  $195.00

    #32596.   His Highness of Gutwar and His Highness of Mysore  Two crisp images, each 4x5-1/2", with superb detail. One is of His Highness of Gukwar and (family)?; the other of His Highness of Mysore and Two Princes. Both Gutwar and Mysore are cities in India. Original warm-tone albumen prints, c. 1870's, with calligraphic titles. Photographer unknown. Eminently displayable; and magnificent historical look at the youth of the rulers and historical royal Indian attire of the time. Superb images.  $295.00

    #32597.   Great Eastern Hotel, Calcutta (India), by Samuel Bourne  Magnificent extremely sharp albumen photograph, 12-1/2x7-1/2" by Samuel Bourne, one of the most noted of Eastern photographers in the wet plate period. Image is signed in the negative, with the negative #1740. This image is so crisp you can almost make out the time on the clock spire at the far backrgound. A number of people and carriages line the steet, and numerous signs and buildings are visible. Title in hand calligraphy below image. One of the finest Bourne's we have seen, in superb condition.  $895.00

    #32598.   Viceroy's Elephants with State Trappings  Magnificent, extremely sharp albumen photograph, 11-1/2x9". The image is probably by Samuel Bourne, one of the most noted of Eastern photographers in the wet plate period, but not signed. image shows five elephants with all the decorative "trappings" accorded the royal Indian Viceroy. Extremely sharp detail, penned calligraphy title below image. A fine photograph, suitable for any private or museum collection. Superb condition.  $695.00

    #32599.    Hotel at Kioto, Japan  Magnificent, extremely sharp albumen photograph, 10-3/4x8-3/4". Crisp view of Jeutei's Palace Hotel in Kioto; more than 20 people visible in image, and several rickshaws. Valuable historical image, extremely sharp detail, superb quality and condition. Penned calligraphy title below image. Suitable for any private or museum collection.  $495.00

    #2318.  Japan--Rapids of the River Hozh-Garra, Kioto, Japan  Photographer unidentified. Approximately 10-1/2x8-1/2" image; rather mundane, with one or two minuscule surface marks, barely noticeable. Good detail, showing wooden racks full of stones in the river. Overall Excellent.  $95.00

    #11468.  Jaffa, by Felix Bonfils  11-1/2x9-inch image; beautiful view, looking over bushes and plants in foreground to rising city of Jaffa on hill beyond. Excellent detail; two minuscule spots in sky area, else EX. Quality image, signed in the negative. Bonfils' work has been called "some of the most telling and evocative... made in the last century."  $195.00

    #11469.  Solomon's Pool  11-1/2x9-inch image; crisp image by an unidentified photographer. Photograph looks down rocky slope to man-made pool; other structures to right, more rocky slopes in background. Excellent condition.  $95.00


    #11470.  Jour de Ramleh (Tower of the Forty Martyrs, Ramleh)  9x11-1/2-inch image; vertical format. Although there is no photographer's identification on this specific print, it is known to be by Felix Bonfils, and bears his negative #151 in negative. Bonfils' work has been called "some of the most telling and evocative... made in the last century." Technically a superbly detailed view of this tall narrow tower, in partial ruin, with portions of ruined walls also visible at right and left. Crisp, nice albumen tone. A striking image for any collection.  $295.00

    #11472.  Statue of Diabutz, Katasa, Near Yokohama, Japan  8x10-1/2-inch image; vertical format, delicately and professionally hand-tinted; photographer unidentified. Relatively close view of this huge statue; man stands on wooden box at base of statue; another sits higher up, and still a third stands on a ladder near the base. Minute spotting in sky area, else Excellent condition and a prize for any collection.  $185.00

    #11474.  Temple Gateway, Kioto, Japan  11x8-1/2-inch image; photographer unidentified. Superb close view of huge stone entrance to the temple; few people stand in front. Buildings, gas light posts can be seen. Crisp, detailed, warm albumen tones. one-quarter inch abrasion on top edge, one other "wear" mark on surface, only visible when viewed at an angle. Still Excellent and worthy of any collection.  $195.00

    #11475.  Temple at Kioto, Japan  11x8-1/2-inch image; photographer unidentified. Nice view from inside the gate, showing temple buildings, shrubbery. Excellent detail, crisp. Minute staining at right side of mount, far from image and would be easily covered with a mat during framing.  $185.00

    #2297.  Agra--Gate of Taj, Agra, India  Photographer unidentified; 8-1/2x11" image; superb detail, with the highly ornate gate and building framed by trees. Subject is the Great Gate of the Taj Mahal. Two men stand in foreground for perspective; buggies in background; people under trees. The detail in the image makes us think it may be by Samuel Bourne, but there is no evidence of a signature. A museum-quality photography.  $195.00

    #11490.  Temple of Kamakura, Yokohama, Japan  10-1/2x8-1/4-inch image, photographer unidentified; beautifully and delicately hand-tinted albumen photograph. A beautiful view looking across a grassy area to the temple buildings, and the elevated area of the temple itself. Superb condition, and a wonderful example not only of the quality of phtography at the time, but also the artistry of colorizing.  $185.00
