#31990: DAGUERREOTYPE OF SISTERS
Very nice sixth-plate daguerreotype of two seated women holding hands; it would appear they are probably sisters. Gold highlights have been applied to rings and earrings. This sharp, nicely-posed image is presented in a floral-motif papier-mache case with inlaid pieces of mother of pearl. The case maintains much of its original brightness, and not the dullness we find in many MOP cases. The lacquer has random stress marks, consistent with the age of the case. The case cover is separated at the spine. The words "Memory Leaflet" are imprinted on the worn spine of the case. Overall a nice presentation. $250.00
