    #31959: SHERIFF (?) AND WIFE
Pair of strong sixth-plate ambrotypes of a man and his wife, in a double thermoplastic case with a geometric pattern (Berg 3-67). The case has minute chips on three of its eight corners. A paper label behind one image identifies the photographer as H. Landbeck, 41 Front St., Rochester, N.Y. . The man cuts an imposing figure, with gilded highlights on a ring, shirt stud, and on a six-pointed star he wears proudly. He may be a sheriff, or marshall, or the like. His wife is nicely posed as well, holding her hat in her hand, with gold gilded accents on two rings, a brooch and her earrings. Both images have been taken on ruby glass. Both images are in Excellent condition, and certainly worthy of further study. $495.00
